St Paul's admonition has been interpreted with various emphases, usually ignoring the flexible growing nature of love, which he epitomises in the image of Christ married to His Church. As the husband is given the metaphorical role of the head in the relationship, the wife is the body of Christ, with whom he is joined to become a single entity by means of a mystic cleansing ritual. In practical terms, Paul is advising the husband to love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife to express her love in respect for her husband: and for both partners to behave to each other in complete obedience to Christ.
Growing in obedience to Christ is building God's kingdom. In His parables, Jesus illustrates, through the experiences of an individual man and an individual woman, how God's kingdom can grow by faith with common sense or by determination and hard work.
Lord, teach me to love as You love. Bless Lord the many families I know.

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
