How To Pray With Shalom

Today's two readings bring us to the heart of things. Religion can at times seem difficult, hard to understand. It is often written about in words and sentences beyond our minds. But the secret is simple. God is love and those who believe in this God are called to love. God's flame of love is unbounded, has no sectarian border, no division in its reach. Everything and everyone is included in its sweep. Only by opening to that fire in the heart of God for all things, can we go beyond the strictures and the structures of our human minds. We make distinctions - "friend", "enemy", "good", "wicked", "ours', "others". And so the human building collapses on us. Even in prayer, we can lay claims on God as "ours". Prayer should, and today's readings do reveal "our God" as the God of all peoples. And we, His followers, belong to all. And give ourselves freely to all.

Lord, help us to appreciate others as Your children too.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
For children and youths in Catholic Schools, that in the course of their training they may encounter strong and wise educators who will help them to grow in their religious faith and healthy attitudes to life.
