This reflection is being written in Australia, the driest continent on earth where we have faced the worst drought in living memory. The first Reading seems very apt now that the rains have come. Certainly the rains feel like 'bread from heaven', especially as we watch the green grass grow in paddocks that were just brown earth weeks ago. It is from God that all of creation has come, and it is God who ultimately provides us with everything that sustains and nourishes our bodies.

It is from Jesus too that we receive nourishment for our souls. If we turn to Jesus and follow His teachings then we will surely enter the Kingdom of heaven and this is so much better than life here on earth as it is for the whole of eternity. It is from God that we gain the courage, strength and fortitude to do what is right. It is from God that we receive the reassurance that we are truly living good and fulfilling lives when we follow His ways. Once we are walking with God then our search is over. Our lives are fulfilled as we know that we could happily exist in the presence of God for ever. Human beings are both body and soul and God in His wisdom sustains both.

Lord, help me to live those virtues that bring peace joy and fulfilment in my life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That researchers in scientific and technological fields, may welcome the church's incessant calls to make wise and responsible use of the successes they have attained.
