If we have faith in God and earnestly ask for help then God will help us. The victories and the endurance of the torture and persecution of the heroes of faith are attributed to their trust in God. Yet their reward of a place in heaven awaited the coming of Christ and they would share that reward with us. For the rewards we seek in this life may not necessarily be the ones that God will bestow upon us. As the Psalm indicates, we should all have hope in God. God is always present among his people, listening and keeping us safe.

The Gospel indicates the true compassion and power of Jesus. He cured the man who was overcome with demons, driving out the evil spirits which had turned the man's life into a misery. Similarly today Jesus is capable of overcoming all evil in the world. If human beings truly followed His teaching then there would be no evil, only good and this Gospel reassures us that God is capable of overcoming evil because He so desires. God does ask that we acknowledge the great things He does for us. Just as we are grateful when we are helped by friends, we should also be most grateful to God for helping us.

Lord, we acknowledge and thank You for helping us in all our needs.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all Christians, sensitive to the distressing condition of the peoples who are still suffering from hunger and thirst, may be moved to greater solidarity towards their brothers.
