"The spirit of Truth will lead you to the complete truth." Saint Augustine said "Our hearts are restless till they rest in God". Paul on his daily travels around Athens experienced this quest in people as he admired the sacred monuments they had built and the altar inscribed "to an unknown God". He is eager to share with the people that the God He is proclaiming is the God they already worship without knowing it.

He is the God who created the world and everything in it. He is the One who gives us life and breath. He is greater than anything made by human hands. He came and lived among us. He died for us and rose from the dead. Some of those who listened to Paul laughed at his mention of rising from the dead. Others wanted to hear more.

This search continues today. Sometimes we search for answers to our quest in money, in pleasure, in power and in other different kinds of "gods". Yet we are left unsatisfied. In today's Gospel reading Jesus tells us that the Spirit will lead us to the complete truth. So eager is our God to satisfy our deepest desire that He is willing to give up His own life so that the Spirit can come.

Lord, You are our personal God. We thank You for the Holy Spirit through whom we have come to have a deeper understanding and intimacy of You who alone can fulfill the deepest longings of our heart.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
