What can we learn from today's readings? Paul prays for his friends, praising their faith and their love for others. It is a reminder to us to keep our friends in our prayers constantly. We pray for all their intentions, to share in their joys and sorrows and always that they may discern what God wants for them in their lives. Paul also talks with joy of the spreading of the Good News. In the reading from the Good News we read of Jesus' activities in Capernaum. He cures Simon's mother-in-law of a fever. A simple faith-filled request, a compassionate response, a cure. What did the mother-in-law do? She began to wait on Jesus and the disciples. A reminder that we must be men and women for others. At sunset a number of other people also came to be cured. Jesus then went away to be by Himself. When the crowd tried to prevent Him leaving, He reminded them of His mission to spread the Good News. We are reminded to lead a life of faith, to trust God, to never be afraid to ask Him for help, and to spread the Good News. Just like Simon's mother-in-law this can be done as we go about our ordinary everyday tasks.

Lord, let me be attentive to the needs of others and pray for them.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
