We are told that Jesus' mother and brothers came looking for Him. At first sight Jesus' response seems to be rather cold and rude. He does not seem to be following His own teaching about loving others! But, if we read the passage differently, we can see He is making a very important point. Those are closest to Him who share His thinking and His vision about life and about God and not just those who happen to be His relatives by blood. And of all those present who was in fact closest to His thinking? Surely, it was His Mother. At the Annunciation she had accepted God's will unconditionally. She followed that will to the very foot of the Cross. Indeed 'she heard the Word of God and put it into practice'. And this is the secret of Mary's real greatness. And of ours.

Pray for us, holy Mother of God, that we may become worthy of Christ's promises.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
