Today's feast celebrates the manifestation of God's glory to all peoples. Isaiah tells us that the glory of the Lord shines on all peoples no matter who they are and where they live. All peoples can come to know, love and follow the Lord. They will use their riches and gifts for the Lord's benefit. The Psalm reinforces the theme that all peoples will pay homage to the Lord. Justice and peace will flourish, whilst the anawin - the poor - of society will be taken care of. There will be no distinction between the Lord's followers and those who still do not know about God. St Paul shows us that God does not exclude anyone from sharing in His gifts. Through grace all share in the same inheritance. Matthew's gospel tells how the light led the wise men from the East to Jerusalem. In fact it was the star shining brightly over Bethlehem which led them to the child Jesus born in a stable. It is significant that even non-Jewish people were able to recognize that a significant event had taken place and that an infant King of the Jews had been born. God then is the God of all peoples and He rejects no one who truly wishes to come to know and love Him.

Lord, You alone are our God and worthy of praise.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all men and women may recognise that they are members of God's one family and end wars, injustice and discrimination among themselves.
