Today's readings are about service. In the First Reading Samuel thought that Eli was calling him but in fact it was the Lord Himself. How often have we thought we were being invited to do something or go somewhere and did not recognise that it was the Lord Himself who was calling us? How many times in a day does that happen? God can use all kinds of people - good and bad, nice and not nice - to call us. He can use all kinds of situations, pleasant and unpleasant to say something to us. Let me learn how to recognise his presence in every situation and to respond generously. See in today's Gospel who Peter's mother-in-law is for us who as soon as she is healed, gets up to serve those around us. Am I someone who is eager to serve or am I waiting for others to be always thinking of what I want?

Teach me, Lord, to serve You as You deserve and to serve those around me unconditionally (whether they deserve it or not, or whether they need it).

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all men and women may recognise that they are members of God's one family and end wars, injustice and discrimination among themselves.
