As Christians we are possessed of a wonderful treasure, the way of life given to us by Jesus and which has come to us through the New Testament writings and the teachings down through the centuries. What a shame to keep it to ourselves! We are called not just to 'save our own souls' but to share the message with all those around us. As the Gospel asks, 'Would you light a lamp and then hide it somewhere?' The purpose of a light is to radiate light around itself. We are called to share the light of the Gospel not just sometimes but through our whole lifestyle. And there is the paradox that that the more we give out that light to others, the more we are enriched ourselves. It is the one who buries the treasure in the ground in case someone else might get it who is the real loser.

Teach me, Lord, to be generous. Teach me that the more I give away of myself the more I will receive.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all men and women may recognise that they are members of God's one family and end wars, injustice and discrimination among themselves.
