INTENTION : That all Christians may be constantly more aware of their personal and community responsibility to bear witness to God's love for humanity and for every man and woman.

Matthew's account of the Last Judgement graphically describes how we are going to be judged by gestures of love towards his/her suffering neighbour. Thus hiding behind the face of the under-privileged and the abandoned Jesus solemnly proclaimed that "in so far as you did this to the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me" (Mt. 25:40).

Though we are personally held accountable on how we alleviate the sufferings of individuals and entire communities it becomes necessary, in view of the enormity of the task before us, to organise ourselves and return to the experience of the first Christian communities (Acts 2:44) where everyone placed their belongings in common so that they might be used according to each person's needs.

Furthermore, they went as a body to the Temple every day to break bread, share their food gladly and praised God. (Acts 2:46-48). Here is the foundation and roots of the amazing beauty of being together in Christ's name. We find the fundamental motive for every action and every community initiative in the service of the needy and suffering persons.

It therefore becomes necessary for individuals and communities to grow and nourish themselves on the awareness of this duty to bear witness to God's love.
