Today's Gospel proclaims who Jesus is and His mission. Having stressed His close relationship with His Father Jesus goes on to tell us that He came into the world as light so that we no longer need to live in darkness. If we believe in Jesus we believe in the one who sent Him, His Father, and this will lead us to Eternal life.

Like the Apostles in the first reading we are called not only to hear the Word but to put it into practice in our lives. We can see the enthusiasm of the first followers of Jesus as they worshipped together, fasted and listened to the call of the spirit in their lives. Each of them responded according to their call and their gifts to spread the good news to others. Perhaps this is the call to us today - to reflect on our own gifts and how we respond to God's Word and God's call in our own lives. Jesus has offered us the gift of light, the gift of faith. What is our response?

Lord help us to open our heart to Your word and to Your call that we may be Your witnesses in our world today.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
