In the first reading, Paul shares with us his intense experience of the love of Christ into which he is drawn. He earnestly begs the Christian community in Ephesus to go through this experience of the love of Christ which is the uniting force of the community. Lack of this experience is precisely the cause behind all division and turmoil in a community. In such a situation there is no place for the Spirit to move. We act in such a way as to satisfy our selfish motives, using our little talent for self-glory and to accumulate power.

In the Gospel, the same theme is stressed. Jesus invites us to be docile to the movements of the Spirit which constantly whispers in our inmost consciousness. An attentive listening to this Spirit will be the practical guide for us as the external sense helps us to predict the natural occurrence outside. Most often we focus undue attention on the happenings inside us. This inner awareness enables us to read the signs of the time and equip us to take a stand which would be an appropriate response to the given situation.

Lord, help me to recognise the prompting of Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That, firm in their faith, Christians may be eager to dialogue with those who belong to another religious tradition.
