INTENTION : That those working in the Middle-East, may intensify their efforts for peace.

In spite of attempts to avoid and end regional disputes and a grievous war in the Middle-East the conflicts continue unabated with greater ferocity. The failure to solve the Palestinian-Israeli issue and the Iraqis' aspiration to regain their sovereignty remain a permanent factor of destabilization for the whole region, not to speak of the indescribable suffering it has caused both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

Respect for the legitimate aspirations of the disputing parties, a return to the negotiating table and the concrete commitment of the International Community can be a first step towards a solution. Many prominent peace-makers have been attacked and killed while fulfilling their mission. Furthermore, the international terrorism by sowing hate, fear and fanaticism disgraces all the causes it claims to serve.

Believing that the Creator has endowed every human person a unique dignity, that each one of us is the subject of inalienable rights and freedoms, that seving others in love means growing in humanity, then it behooves upon all of us to apply the Gospel message of loving our enemies and living charity in times of war. Let us pray that people may be purified of the hatred and evil that threaten peace continually, and to extend to one another hands that have never been stained by violence but are ready to offer help and comfort to those in need.
