Mark's version of this story is much more dramatic. The paralysed man is brought to Jesus by some friends who let him down through the roof. The man asked for healing but Jesus told him his sins were forgiven. A statement which shocked the teachers of the law nearby. "Who can forgive sins apart from God?" They were perfectly right but they did not put two and two together. To show that Jesus did have power to forgive sin (something invisible in itself), He then told the man to rise up and walk (very visible). The people around were utterly convinced. They clearly saw the hand of God in what had happened, even if they did not fully realise the true identity of Jesus. We should notice that Jesus did not only heal the man's body but his whole self. All of us need this kind of healing, a healing that makes us whole persons in every dimension of our existence.

Lord, give me the healing I need to be a whole person.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That our society should, with concrete acts of Christian and brotherly love, come to the aid of the millions of refugees who live in extreme need and abandonment.
