Today we celebrate the Feast of the Mother of Sorrows, as she stands beneath the Cross of her Son, in His hour of glory ... the hour He had spoken of to her at the wedding in Cana (Jn. 2:3-5,12). Mother and Son are in solidarity with all of suffering humanity as Jesus breathes forth His Spirit in a final act of surrender. "Although he was son he learnt to obey through suffering (Heb. 5:8-9), becoming a source of salvation. Mary shares with her 'dying glorious son" that victory that came as a consequence of her own "fiat" ..."let what you have said to be done to me." (Lk. 1:38).

This surely is the most poignant moment in the history of humanity redeemed, when Mother and Son say their "yes" thus reversing the consequence of the "no" of our first parents. A new creation is inaugurated at this final moment of Jesus' life on earth. He is alone with his very own: his mother and the beloved disciple representing the community of believers who would one day follow Him in obedience to the Cross.

Lord, help me to say "Yes" as Mother Mary did - to be faithful to You!

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
