Today's readings in Numbers and in Psalm 102 challenges us to have a deeper faith in God. He sees our pains and hears our pleas. His promise of His protection for His people is forever fervent. We are therefore urged to be more patient and to persevere while we are striving to follow His will in our lives.

At times, we realize, it is very trying to remain fervent in our faith especially when our transitory needs are not fulfilled. Yet, it is in such situations that these readings of today tell us that we must first acknowledge our own weakness and sinfulness, and then seek His merciful forgiveness and compassion. It is with such an attitude that Psalm 102:20 says that we will have "a permanent home" and "be in His presence always."

The Gospel of St John challenges us further; it confronts us with a basic truth that we will find the Will of Our Father in and through His Son. Thus, when we listen to Jesus' words, we recognize our Father's Will and, when we obey Jesus, we obey Our Father.

So, let us pray that we will continue to open our eyes to see beyond what we usually see in this world in order to discover how Our Father's truth is present and active in the seemingly ordinary events that we daily encounter.

Lord, I pray for a generous heart which is constantly open to Your Will so that my faith in You will be kept alive and burning with zeal.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
