God's love continually overcomes our infidelities with forgiveness. God treats us lovingly as children and finds ways to provide a future full of hope for us, disregarding our chronic inability to cooperate with His plans, let alone be His agents to propagate them throughout the world.

Like the Jewish leaders we even positively interfere with God's plans for our nation as well as ourselves, making decisions according to business and political expediency rather than divine wisdom. The results are disastrous, like the collapse of buildings, destruction of the environment, and so on. Only God's ability to write straight with crooked lines saves the day. The death of Jesus, plotted and executed by religious leaders and politicians, did in fact save the people but not politically. Jesus' death saves us all from the ultimate death, but we may, as did the Jews, have to live out the consequences of foolish secular decisions.

Lord, help me to make decisions according to Your Will.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
