Today in the Gospel, we see Jesus responding to the "prayer of faith" of the man who asked Him to take pity on his son. The healing of the boy is a lesson to His disciples and to all of us about the need for faith and trust in the power of Jesus. The faith which Jesus calls forth is a basic trust in God. It requires that we see the promises of God coming true in His good time. The disciples couldn't heal the boy because they failed to recognize that their power came from Jesus Himself. Jesus is indeed Lord and Healer and yet He did not choose to cure every sickness or heal every disease. He does not choose to do so in our time either.

There is a mystery about life and its sufferings. The prophet Habakuk could not understand why God would allow Judah's enemies to punish her because if Judah was sinful, they were more so. The only answer to be found is that "the just man because of his faith, will live." Yes, faith is necessary not to bring about cures and alleviate sufferings but to live with God and to accept His will in our lives.

"I place all my trust in You my God for my hope is in Your mercy". Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
