What is the purpose of talking today about the end of the world? It is not a strange, meaningless topic for men and women of the 21st century to talk today about the end of the world. More importantly, what is God telling us?

The Gospel is Good News and the Good News which we learn today is hope. What the Good News teaches us today is to encourage us to foster our hope. It wants to tell us that our life, our history, the world is not something useless, even after our great tribulations. "The Lord is coming. There is salvation."

Yes, the Gospel wishes to tell us that every thing is limited, that sooner or later all will end. Therefore, if everything is contingent, limited, there is hope. Our only hope is God which is the other of everything. And God will come through a life in Christ.

  1. Jesus will truly come into our world when we end our selfishness and let ourselves be directed by the love of God in our hearts.

  2. Jesus will come into our world when we overcome our dominant ideologies, our individualism and group prejudices which stop God's love.

  3. When Jesus really comes the clouds of our pessimism, narrowmindness, negativism, etc will be overcome, and our hope will be strong, practical and real because he will break all chains and attachments which make us slaves, and then there will be hope and happiness in Christ.

Who will liberate us from the slavery of our shortcomings? Only Christ Jesus.

Lord, help us to look towards Your coming in glory.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
