Today we hear so much about divorce and about married couples leading separate lives. It is a painful and hurtful experience not only for themselves but also for those who are close to them. This situation definitely affects them in body, soul and spirit and above all it becomes a counter witness to the love of God.

A marriage is a vocation and a calling. Husband and wife have a responsibility to evangelise others through their lives. Just as Christ the head of the Church loved and sacrificed Himself for her, so too husband and wife should love one another. In that way others will see how they love one another and give praise to God.

Through the sacrament of holy matrimony we receive the power to become witnesses of God. This is a gift of God and a privilege. It is through our love for one another that we become obedient to God. Our children will follow us because of our obedience and love of God, and so will our children's children. This is like a mustard seed that grows to become a huge tree and all kinds of birds come to shelter in its branches.

Lord Jesus, strengthen us in our love for one another so that we can continue to further Your kingdom by building a family of love in our own home starting with us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all those who are baptized may mature in their faith and manifest it through clear, coherent and courageous choices in life.
