Both readings show how God can come so unexpectedly into people's lives as part of his plan for them. Abraham has lost his wife and is anxious that his son Isaac find a suitable wife among his own people. And then, by a well (as happens on other occasions), Isaac finds Rebekah who will be the wife he was looking for. In the Gospel, Jesus seems to be just passing by a tax collector working at his desk and unexpectedly calls him: "Follow me". Matthew gets up immediately and goes with Jesus. As they celebrate with all Matthew's friends (naturally, other tax collectors and 'sinners'), the Pharisees are shocked. A good person would never be found in such company. On the contrary, says Jesus, it is precisely such people who need to be brought in contact with God. Our Church is called to be an inclusive, accepting Church to which all are welcome.

Teach me your paths, my God, make me walk in Your truth.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all citizens, individually and in groups, may be enabled to participate actively in the life and management of the common good.
