Today's reading is so relevant, not least for us who live in Malaysia and Singapore. In so many parts of our world, people are divided by race, language, nationality and religion. People are dying in their thousands, many are driven out of their homes - all because of the colour of their skin, the faith they believe in, the community to which they belong. When Jesus spoke about God's prophets being sent to bring healing and comfort to 'outsiders' rather than to their own people, the people were enraged and wanted even to kill him. They proved the truth of his words: "A prophet is never accepted by his own people" - especially if he preaches a message of universal brotherhood and sisterhood. What marks us out as Christians is not our distinctive beliefs and customs but our seeing brothers and sisters in every single person without exception a brother or a sister by our living out the Scripture saying: "Wherever there is love, there is God." It is a belief our world desperately needs to hear and practise. And it begins with me.

Help me, Lord, to seek, find and respond to You in every person I meet.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the word of God may be ever more listened to, contemplated, loved and lived.
