The initial genealogy of Matthew culminates with the vocation of St. Joseph. Joseph "Son of David" cooperates, as all his ancestors in the History of Salvation, integrating Jesus into the people of God and among men. As the legal father of Jesus he will transmit the blessings and promises of the Old Testament.

The virginal conception has been already realized. It is the work of the Hoy Spirit, who with His creating dynamism, starts with Jesus the creation of a new humanity free of sin.

Joseph, the just man, respects the work of the Holy Spirit. Probably the virgin conception was known to him. But the Lord, with new wisdom, shows him the way and his mission of "Son of David" and Joseph will be the one who will help integrate the Son of Mary into to the People of the Promise with the new and meaningful name of JESUS, sign of the saving presence of God. With His faith Joseph accepts the mission necessary even though it was obscure and hard.

Blessed Joseph, as you accepted to help Mary and Jesus, teach and help us to live and work for the integration of Jesus into ourselves and our people.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
