INTENTION : That the Christians who are in minority situations may have the strength and courage to live faith and persevere in bearing witness to it.

Catholics in many countries constitute a minority. This presents many challenges which require dedication on the part of the Church to tend to the flock effectively and, at the same time, remain faithful to her missionary commitment. For this reason it is essential that the Church undertake a proper catechesis of the faithful so that God's people are truly prepared to withstand the many enticements that come our way for the sake of a more comfortable life here on this prospering nation.

Conditioned to being in a minority status all our life-time we can easily give up hope and grab the many opportunities for self-enhancement and enrichment through enticements for power, wealth and status by converting to the religion of the majority ruling class.

Disenchanted and deluded with the way justice is meted out by the ruling authorities we can easily succumb to the promise of a good life, now, provided we betray our Faith by converting to another faith. Such cop-out action will be most unfortunate and discourage the many faithful who live by the challenging values of the Gospel of Christ.

We are asked in a special way to have faith and courage to live our Faith and persevere in giving our best Christian witness by word and deed to the authentic teaching of the Gospel. We continue to serve others as Christ did, in spite of the many odds against us these days.
