Following Christ is much more than carrying religious obligations, doing 'holy' things like saying lots of prayers, taking part in devotions and novenas or even going to church. Such a life can be very self-centred. As Jesus says today, saying 'Lord, Lord' all the time will not make one a member of God's Kingdom. God's Kingdom is the place where people are working together to carry out the will of God in their lives, in their world and with the people around them. And what is God's will? It is that we live our lives in unconditional love and service to every person but most especially those who are in any kind of need whether that need is physical, social, emotional or spiritual. It is clear that the only way to go to God is through other people. "By this will all know that you are my disciples, that you love one for another." "I was hungry, I was thirsty, I was naked, I was sick, I was in prison and you did nothing for me - I do not know who you are." This is the rock on which our relationship with God is to be built. Without this foundation, anything else we do, however pious, is just sand.

The greatest love one can show is to give one's life for others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all Christians may cultivate a deep and personal friendship with Christ, in order to be able to communicate the strength of his love to every person they meet.
