St. Luke tells us in today's Gospel of the work of those holy women who made such an important contribution to the Lord's public life. It is impressive that the Lord wanted to rely on their generosity. We can only imagine how the Lord would return such great kindness! During the hours of the Passion it seems as if these women proved to be more faithful to Jesus than the Apostles themselves, with the exception of John.

The example of these holy women should be an example for every one of us, Christians, to serve the Lord without conditions. Our attitude has to be to serve the Lord and others with supernatural spirit, not expecting any reward for our generosity. We should serve even that person who, may be, will not thank us. Every action we do on behalf of others ought to be thought of as a direct service to and for Christ. "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me". (Mt.25:40)

How many opportunities to serve the Lord come before us every day! Let us serve!

I will serve You, my Lord, all the days of my life. Help me to persevere in this intention.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those who, because of wars or oppressive regimes, are forced to leave their homes and country may be supported by Christians in the defence and protection of their rights.
