Today we read of the last appearance of the Risen Jesus to his disciples. Seven of them are out fishing on the lake. As happened on previous occasions, after a whole night of fishing, they had caught nothing. Suddenly a shadowy figure appears on the lake shore and guides them to where there is a large number of fish. There are so many that they cannot be taken on board but have to be dragged in the net to the shore. Immediately, the 'Beloved Disciple', the one who was closest to Jesus, who leaned on his breast at the Last Supper, who stood by the Cross and who alone understood the meaning of the Empty Tomb, knows at once that "It is the Lord!" On hearing this, Peter, who was not wearing any clothes, immediately covers himself and then hurries to meet his Lord. His shame is not just of his nakedness but of his guilt at having betrayed his Lord during the Passion. However, reconciliation will happen very soon. The scene ends with the disciples having a Eucharistic meal with their Risen Lord. He looks different; they will learn that, in fact, the Risen Jesus has the face of every single person. "Who sees you, sees Me." Let us, too, learn to recognise, to love and to serve our Lord in every face we meet.

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Lord may bless the farmers' work with an abundant harvest and sensitize the richer populations to the drama of hunger in the world.
