"Teacher, I have brought to you my son possessed by a mute spirit. I asked your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable to do so." How can we help someone who is like the boy from today's Gospel? How can we help someone who has a lot of problems and pain? But because he is afraid to open his heart, it is just impossible to get in touch with him. Instead he is angry and sad; he bites and ruins himself and others. Maybe we know such a situation from our life. A spouse or child, neighbour or co-workerˇK behaves as if he/she were possessed by an evil and mute spirit. He/she is unhappy and make others unhappy.

"This kind can only come out through prayer"- says Jesus to the Apostles who were not able to help the possessed boy. Many times we experience that our human solutions and our human words are too weak to help others. We realize that only prayer full of deep faith can bring healing because only prayer can bestow upon us the power of God's wisdom and love. God's wisdom and love are so powerful that they can heal the heart and loosen the tongue to speak and do good.

"I do believe, help my unbelief!" - cried out the boy's father. May these words make our prayer every time when we confront evil.

"Fear of the Lord warms the heart, giving gladness and joy and length of days."

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Pastors of the Church may always be docile to the action of the Holy Spirit in their teaching and in their service to God's people.
