The opening words of the Letter to the Hebrews remind us that God is always greater. Newer gifts are given which far surpass former gifts. The voice of God was heard in the past, but we have a greater privilege: God has spoken to us through his Son.

The fishermen at the sea of Galilee heard Jesus calling them, but they could not yet have realized that this was God speaking to them through His Son. They obeyed the call, they accepted the invitation, and so they did come eventually to know God more clearly and to recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God.

God speaks to us in various ways: conscience, and the voice of authority in the Church, the Scripture and the prayers of the Mass. We may not always recognize these as the voice of His Son. But if we are like the fishermen of Galilee, prompt and ready to listen and accept even if we do not fully understand, then we do have the assurance that the truth will set us free, and we shall come to know God.

Lord, grant us the grace to listen for Your voice.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the family may become more and more a place of training in charity, personal growth and transmission of the faith.
