God's timing and ours differ greatly. By the time God came to fulfil His promise to Abraham it seemed crazy as the couple were too old to begin child-rearing. Both Abraham and Sarah lauged at the prospect and the child was called Isaac, for he was the cause of their joy, faith's reward, and evidence of the existence of the unseen God in whom they trusted.

Jesus, the long-awaited Saviour is the cause of joy for sinners, the spiritual lepers, who feel they are the dregs of humanity. The acceptance and touch of the Saviour bring joy and new life where hopelessness has been. With God, then, it is never too late. The leprosy of sin disappears as quickly as that of sickness at the touch of the Master's hand. Jesus is the cause of joy and thanksgiving to God.

Lord God, You are the source of my joy, keep me always in Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That International attention towards the poorer countries may give rise to more concrete help, in particular to relieve them of the crushing burden of foreign debt.
