Today we celebrate the dedication of the Church of St John Lateran in Rome. It is the cathedral church of the Bishop of Rome, who is, of course, the Pope and it is called the 'mother of all churches'. The Gospel reading tells of Jesus driving the moneychangers from the Temple. When challenged on what he was doing, Jesus said, "Destroy this Temple and in three days I will raise it up." Jesus, of course, was speaking of the Temple of his Body. Where is that Temple today? As St Paul tells us, it is the Christian community which, gathered together, is the Temple of the Risen Christ. "Who sees you, sees Me." Today we are celebrating the dedication of a church building but what is much more important are the people who use that building. It is they who give it its meaning and dignity. So it is important in today's celebration that we recall who we are and how we are to be - and seen to be - the Temple of Christ's Body for the world. Did not Jesus say, "Wherever two or three are gathered in my Name, I am there among them"?

Lord, help us to be the living temple of the Risen Christ.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all men and women in the world, especially those who have responsibilities in the field of politics and economics, may never fail in their commitment to safeguard creation.
