Merely worshipping Jesus with pietistic enthusiasm is neither a sign of nor a substitute for true discipleship.

Sentimental compliments to Jesus, no matter how sweet they sound to our ears, are worthless. True devotion consists in receiving God's word and acting on it.

Just as Mary listened with heart and soul to God's word and acted on it with all the energy at her disposal, every disciple must be wholly tuned to that word putting it into practice. Then we too will be blessed. If we are open, we can receive this gift of blessedness and become true disciples. "Yes, the mother of Jesus is praiseworthy, not just because of her physical motherhood of Jesus but rather, because she is a true listener and doer of God's Word."

This is the actual meaning of Jesus' response. Certainly Jesus had a high regard for His mother because of her wholehearted "yes" at the Annunciation: her "yes" which led her to stand at the foot of the Cross, eventually.

Lord God, make Your home in me as I listen to Your Word each day.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Sundays may be lived as the day on which Christians gather to celebrate the Risen Lord, participating in the Eucharist.
