Through the light of the resurrection of Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Apostles and disciples were changed from a fearful and scattered group of people into real servants of the Word of God, people who could "speak God's word in confidence."

The source of their fearlessness and confidence was the presence of the Risen Christ and of the Holy Spirit among them as a community and in them individually. The Scriptual record of the profound change in their hearts promises us the same change, the same fearlessness and confidence, that we too may become faithful witnesses to the resurrection.'

Every Christian should aspire to be able to speak the Word of God in confidence. We do not have to be Scripture scholars to do this. But, we do have to pray, opening our hearts and minds to the power and light of the resurrection and to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The prayer of the community led them, as our prayer will lead us, into a renewed experience of the Spirit who had come upon them at Pentecost.

Holy Spirit, giver of life and light, dwell in us, making us servants of the Word of God.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That every tendency to fundamentalism and extremism may be countered by respect, tolerance, and dialogue among believers.
