The Word of God which is given to us today, leads us to reflect upon the difficult realities which affect the quality of life throughout the world. In today's readings, the divided cloak and the deaf man stand out as examples of the tragedy and suffering which are so representative of the division and misunderstanding that fill the earth. Endless wars, rivalries and prejudices tear at the fabric of human life. Struggling people from every land and nation, wait for their voices to be restored, so that one day they may speak for themselves. These realities are a constant reminder to us that the world is in great need of the Lord's healing power. May the Word of God which is spoken to us today enable us to recommit ourselves to being instruments of God's peace. Let us proclaim the Good News of His mercy through our own efforts to promote reconciliation and understanding.

In You, O Lord, is our destiny. Let us not be put to shame.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
