"The Lord himself, therefore, will give you a sign." The Incarnation of the Son of God.

In the midst of the penitential season of Lent the Lord gives us a wonderful sign. It is a sign that we would never imagine - the virgin with child. What is the meaning of this sign for our Christian life and faith? What is the meaning of the Incarnation of the Son of God?

At the centre of this mystery of the Incarnation is the love God has for humankind. This love wants to restore grace, peace and freedom that were lost through the sin of Adam. God's love is never weary or exhausted. Through His love God united himself with humanity to be truly Emmanuel - God who is with us - always and forever.

The next message of the Incarnation of the Son of God shows us obedience that brought us salvation. It is not only the obedience of Mary - the humble handmaid of the Lord but also the obedience of the Son of God who came to this earth to fulfill the will of the Father. "By this will, we have been consecrated through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once for all."

Today's solemnity also teaches us about a great dignity of woman. The Son of God coming to this earth through a woman sanctified Mary's motherhood. She is called by God to give, sustain and protect human life.

Lord, we praise You for the great mystery of Your Incarnation. Make us obedient to Your will that we may experience the saving power of Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
