We are all familiar with the Transfiguration, but how did Peter, James, and John know who these two guys were? Clearly they never had seen Moses or Elijah. Francis de Sales believes this experience on Mount Tabor was a spark of heaven's eternal glory glimpsed by Peter, James and John. Francis preached that in heaven we will all know each other even as Peter, James and John knew Moses and Elijah even though they had never seen or met them. And Moses and Elijah easily knew and conversed with Jesus. In heaven we will receive the contentment of seeing those whom we have dearly loved in this life. And we will see and know not only them, but all the Christians and holy women and men who have ever lived. The good friendships of this life will continue eternally in heaven. We will love each person with a special love because we will eternally love each of the blessed with that eternal love with which we are loved by the Divine Majesty.

Like Peter, James and John and the other disciples, we are given glimpses and tastes of heaven. We are given the Eucharist so that we can be drawn more closely into communion with God and with one another. We are given all the sacraments so that we can grow in the image and likeness of God and begin to see more clearly, be attentive to the voice and love of Jesus and really listen to him and also become true and reliable eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Lord, with Your mercy and grace, may we love our way to heaven, finding heaven all the way to heaven until we, too, are transfigured.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
