"They have no wine," Mary's request/plea is simple yet powerful. True prayer is asking in faith yet leaving it in God's hands to do what he thinks is best for us.

And the One who changed water into wine is even now transforming us into himself through the Eucharist. Throughout our Christian life a wedding is taking place at a level that is not immediately apparent to us until we penetrate by grace and experience the significance of the event. The miracle implies that the new wine that Jesus provides will never run out. It is a new creation. The old creation, with its burden of sin is erased, and the new creation, the action of the Spirit, is now available. The new creation is the Reign of God which becomes present by faith in our lives. The inherent energy of this new wine, strong because it comes from God will enable us little by little to overcome our compulsions, addictions and sinfulness.

Having become one with us in our fallen nature, Jesus transforms us into his divinity. It is then we understand what it means to be in Christ. We are the repository of the new wine, the new creation.

Lord, we rejoice as we come to understand more that You are in us and we in You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
