The readings in Genesis give us a deep insight into the attributions of God and man and as such bring us also into a greater understanding of this God-man, Jesus Christ, who came that we might have salvation. As God He is without sin but as man He is like us with all our human feelings and frailties.

Feelings are neither right nor wrong in themselves even though they can be positive or negative feelings. As such there is no judgement in feelings. It is only in our choices, the act of the will in the face of feelings, that we are led to condemnation or to life. We see, even in this reading of the Old Testament how God is always wanting to save and to lead us back to the right path. And even when we fail to hear His admonition or warning and rebel and bring about pain and loss to ourselves and to the family, He remains merciful. How good and how perfect is the love of God!

The Gospel text shows us that Jesus as God saw through the wiles of man and He did not succumb to their trap. He is God and He would stand His ground, having the upper hand. There was no need for Him to bow down to the wicked demands of man to justify Himself. He was, He is, He will always be the "Great I AM."

Lord, in all Your love and mercy may we never forget that You remain the great "I AM."

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
