"Honour your father and mother" is the 4th of the 10 Commandments of God. We must respect and not grief our parents, listen to and look after them now and in their old age. However much we love and cherish our parents, obedience to God must always take precedence over the will of our loved ones. In today's Gospel, Jesus is emphasizing that the Will of God is paramount and supreme, must take first place in our lives. Spiritual relationship, obeying God, takes priority over family ties or physical relationships. This is what it means to put God first in our lives, over and above our own will or the will of our parents or others.

Following God and doing His will, must mean trusting Him totally, obeying what He asks of us, even without full understanding. Like Moses in the First Reading, obedient to the authority of God, he does whatever God asks of him; even the seas obey him. Nothing is impossible for God.

Teach me Lord to discern Your will in my life. Give me the courage to seek You in all things, to trust and to remain faithful always.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christ may ease the physical and spiritual sufferings of those who are sick with AIDS, especially in the poorest countries.
