Something very unexpected happens in the last chapter of John's Gospel. The Risen Christ had already appeared to the Apostles, talked with them, showed them his wounds, and convinced those who could not believe in his resurrection. Not only this; he sent them to continue his mission and gave them the power of forgiving sins. What happened next? They went out fishing. It seems so unexpected.

Jesus came to them when they had worked the whole night but had caught nothing. They did not recognize him, even though he called them "children". However, they did what he suggested. When they saw the full net they realized that Jesus had come again.

Focus on your life. Think about situations when Jesus came to you, but you did not recognize him. Think about situations when something great happened in your life, when you were full of joy. Was Jesus there standing next to you?

The most important message of today's Gospel is that God never gives up on us. Sometimes we do not recognize him. Sometimes we do not understand what he wants us to do. But he will come again, to show us patiently how much he cares about us.

Lord Jesus, help us to see You even in the most unexpected situations.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
