It is in Galilee that Jesus starts his mission...a place despised by all the learned scholars in the Jewish headquarters at Jerusalem. It is in Galilee where He would later meet his disciples after his Resurrection, before he sends them out in mission. God had a few surprises when He took flesh in our world: choosing an insignificant province, to proclaim his unconditional love to humanity; choosing insignificant persons, the simple countryside along the sea of Galilee. His approach is also insignificant: He passes along...notices two men casting their nets, and calls them...their response is immediate! And they follow him, without a second thought...and later two others do likewise! What is the secret of God’s call that propels persons to accept to follow on a way that is still obscure, if not Faith. The first disciples trusted implicitly in this stranger...in the message he proclaimed, left their profession, possessions, family to stay with him, to learn even more deeply why they were called. A call to “repentance and belief “ is a lifetime of change, which would eventually lead us to where we dare not go and do what we would not dream of doing. God’s call comes when we are at our normal duties...when we least expect it...but our response needs to be immediate...or ‘the time is now’ will by-pass us. How ready am I to take up the challenge? Now or Never?

Lord, let me listen deeply to Your voice today...in all the circumstances around me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
