In this Gospel passage, Jesus has revealed a very important message to us: our God is a God of humility. This seems to contrast with our frequent affirmation that God is the almighty. In fact, being powerful and being humble are not contradictory. God's power was revealed on the cross, the power which set all human beings free from the power of sin and death and brought us life everlasting. From then on, everyone who believes in Jesus Christ on the cross is called a child of God. God is love and does all things according to his nature of love. Hence God's reason and motivation for choosing to save us by way of the cross is love and love alone. In love and because of love, God almighty became a finite human being. The God of all power became powerless, the God of all riches became a poor man and the source of all wisdom became wise in a merely human way. This is how unbelievably God loves us. Those who recognize this God who is the almighty and yet humbled himself for our sake are invited to become as Jesus was humble will be regarded as great in the end in God's kingdom.

Lord, teach us to be humble in our day to day life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
