God was very clear: there is but one God, and He is the creator and supreme power in the world. People try desperately to seek their way through life without God. It is easy to smother oneself in wealth, power, drugs, alcohol, and pleasure seeking, but in the end they will fail. They do not bring lasting happiness or peace. Again God declared, 'I am the Lord, there is no other.' He called on the peoples of the earth to acknowledge Him and to be healed and saved. We need to remember that God is our origin and destiny, and our lives need to be based on that.

John the Baptist was in prison and he knew he would never leave alive. He began to have doubts, so he sent messengers to ask Jesus, 'Are you the one, or should we look for another?' Jesus refused to answer directly. He told the messengers to go back and report what they saw: the dead raised, the blind given sight, people healed of their afflictions and diseases, and the poor had the good news given to them. These are the infallible signs of God's presence. God brings life, healing, and hope. Disease and misery are not His doing. If Jesus brought life, healing, and hope, there could be only one reason: he was the presence of God. He wasn't as dramatic as some people expected, but God always comes in God's unique way. Let us look around: wherever we see these signs, God is at work. Let us join our efforts!

Lord, may You be the centre of my life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
