Generosity is more than just something nice to do - it is the way in which we imitate and follow Jesus. He gave away everything - his status with God, his freedom, and his very life - because of his love of humanity. Our gratitude and discipleship should be reflected in what we give. This does not just mean money, but also our time, energy, convenience, and comfort. Our love is measured in what we are willing to give of ourselves - let us not be stingy or mean in what we share.

Real love - the sort of love associated with God - does not set conditions or make distinctions. God loves absolutely everyone - even the ungrateful and wicked. If we want to be children of the Most High God we must do likewise. The only way people will be able to see that our faith is real is by the quality of the love that we show to others. It is easy to love those we are close to or those who return our love, but far more difficult to love our enemies and those who persecute us. Love is caring, compassion, kindness, and the unwillingness to seek revenge or bear a grudge. Hatred, cruelty, or unkindness have nothing to do with God and therefore should have nothing to do with us. In our own age, we are also called to love those who are different from us or who think or worship in different ways. All are equal in God's love. When we practise love as our spirituality and faith, we make a significant contribution to the healing and transformation of our world. Each day is a wonderful gift of an opportunity to do God's work, and God's work is always love.

Lord, teach me to love as You love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
