The disciples are grieving over the immanent departure of Jesus and are in fear of the unknown. Jesus knows it. He tells them that he must go. For if he does not go, the Holy Spirit will not come to them. Jesus, however, will not leave his friends orphaned. He leaves them his Spirit, the Spirit of God and of the Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus is alive in us when our hearts are burning with love, not filled with grief or fear. This love is Christ himself. God alone is the true motive force which enables us to act even in the face of adversity, and love is the vocation which includes all others. Jesus is alive in the whole universe when truth and justice prevail.

We who are left behind must continue the work that Jesus missions us to do. We are like Paul and Silas in the first reading. God saves and delivers us from all evil. We shall then shout out our joy and happiness and give glory to God.

May God be blessed in all we say and do.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That, rejecting the culture of indifference, we may care for our neighbors who suffer, especially the sick and the poor.
