In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus urged us to seek first the Kingdom of God. The psalmist affirms: "Lord, I seek your presence." And we respond: "I long to see your face, O Lord." The Kingdom of God is God's presence in our world for it was present in Jesus, Where God is present, there must be light rather than darkness, peace rather than war, joy rather than sadness, as the story of Elijah in the cave describes so powerfully. God was not in the strong wind, the earthquake, or the fire. But that is the Old Testament, and in the New Testament we have Jesus' promise that he is with us until the end of the world. Unfortunately we are living through a "piecemeal third world war", as Pope Francis calls our present situation and it is hard to imagine where God is present. So we have to seek God in the turmoil of our present world: we have to seek God, whose face is so often hidden. Our hope is in the command and the ensuring promise: "seek and you shall find, for the one who seeks will always find." [Mt 7:7-8].

In times of difficulty and darkness, Lord, teach us to wait in courage for Your coming; manifest Yourself in grace and help, consolation and peace.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the aged, marginalized, and those who have no one may find - even within the huge cities of the world - opportunities for encounter and solidarity.
