Though written several millennia ago, the opening words of the Book of Wisdom are extraordinarily apt and challenging for our present world: "Love justice". There are those who appear to be determined to cause a Third World War, and, if we are honest and objective, we will realize that it is not only the USA's Trump and North Korea's Kim who are the warmongers. In such a world, it is not enough to love justice in a theoretical way: we must seriously and earnestly strive to establish peace in the world. But we must realize that what we seek to establish cannot be mere social and political peace. We must rather, in whatever way we can, seek to lay firmly the foundations of God's very own true peace. In 1971, Pope Paul declared, "Justice is the new name of peace." But who listened to him? Who took up the challenge? There is surely less justice and hence less peace in this poor broken world than there was in 1971.

Grant us, Lord, the Wisdom to love peace and to do what little we can to establish Your peace in this world.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians in Asia, bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed, may promote dialogue, peace, and mutual understanding, especially with those of other religions.
