Today's gospel text is about Jesus handpicking and inviting the Twelve to share his own power, the authority to cast out demons, as he sent them to proclaim the kingdom.

Let us note the place and people's movements: Jesus went up the mountain and called to him those whom he wanted, and they came to him. Luke's version (6:12-14) also indicates the time.

We are invited to be present with Jesus as he enters into his prayer space and remains there with the Father throughout the night in earnest, quiet prayer, presenting to him each disciple and praying for each one of them, as he reflected on the Father's will,

It was Jesus who chose us as he choose the Twelve, not we who chose him (cf. John 15:16). Let us be grateful for being chosen and invited to work in the Father's vineyard.

Lord Jesus, help me to be worthy of the tasks you have entrusted to me; help me to make good choices, so as to give glory in service to the Father. Help me to pray like You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians, and other religious minorities in Asian countries, may be able to practise their faith in full freedom.
