Job cursed the day that he was born and wished fervently that he had never come into the world. We can understand why he did what he did! He had experienced incredible suffering and loss in just a short time. Family, wealth, and health had all deserted him, and he lay in a bed of pain. Perhaps some of us have felt the same at times. Life can often be rough. But Job did not give up - he knew that somehow, he would survive and enjoy happiness again. There was an inner strength and faith that kept him going. Let us not give in to despair - God will never give us more than we can bear, and God is always there with us and for us.

Jesus insisted that we must become like little children to enter the kingdom of God. He didn't mean to act childish, but to be as innocent, trusting, and filled with wonder as children are. This means being less clever and sure of ourselves. Children are not cynical and mistrustful until they learn to be so from adults. Children have no power or status - they must rely completely on others that are more powerful. They cannot determine their own future. In a similar way, we are urged to rely on God in the same way a child relies on his parents. Let us be as open and eager for God as a child is eager for the presence of those whom they love.

Lord, grant me courage and inner strength.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That consecrated religious men and women may bestir themselves, and be present among the poor, the marginalized, and those who have no voice.
